Book Announcment

by Mike Rogers

In my last post—dated Jan. 1, 2020—I announced that I was going to close the blog, at least temporarily. I said, “If the Lord wills, I plan to self-publish a book that shows the rationale for inmillennialism. My goal is to finish it by August 2020.”

The next day I received a message from Caleb Poston of McGahan Publishing House asking if I would be interested in working with them. We signed a publishing contract on Feb. 4, 2020. I began revising the manuscript and forwarded chapters as I completed them to Caleb for incremental editing. We completed this process on June 11. He is now finishing the editing and has started the typesetting process. The graphics work is underway and we are working on a cover design. More on that in a moment.

Without further ado, I want to make an announcement:

The Lord has blessed this project above all that I could think or ask, and I thank him for it! Here is a blurb by a pastor who read the manuscript:

Inmillennialism: Redefining the Last Days by Michael A. Rogers belongs on the shelf of every pastor and student of eschatology. As a graduate of a Southern Baptist seminary and a minister with many years of experience it is hard to admit that I have always found eschatology to be frustratingly ambiguous. All of the conventional Evangelical eschatological systems seem to leave some major questions unanswered. This book helps answer some of the most difficult of those eschatological questions. I am a wary person and am especially cautious about claims of new or unique doctrines, so I kept looking for the flaw in Rogers’ system. But, instead of finding errors, I found myself intrigued by his clear biblical exposition. I believe this tome has the potential to challenge and strengthen the biblical eschatology of everyone who reads it. I highly recommend this book for the minister or student who is studying eschatology. It’s worth the read for the scholarship and exposition alone.

Dr. Tom J. Nettles, a retired professor of historical theology at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and the author of Baptists and the Bible, By His Grace and For His Glory, and other books, has graciously written the foreword. I plan (D. V.) to post at least parts of it here over the next few weeks.

I know that many of you have prayed for this effort. Thank you. And now I want to ask for your help with a decision that I must soon make regarding the book cover. Which of the two following cover designs do you prefer? (Please disregard the ISBN number, price, and repeated blurbs—they are for illustrative purposes only. Neither design is final; they are both still in development but are close to what the final product will be.)

Option A

The painting is The Siege and Destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans Under the Command of Titus, A.D. 70 by David Roberts (1796–1864), c. 1850.

Option B

The stones are in the “wailing wall,” the retaining wall that supported the temple platform.

Please indicate your preference by simply typing “A” or “B” on my Facebook Author page (here). Please consider liking and following the page while you are there. There is no prize for participating; just the satisfaction of knowing you have helped a first-time author make an important decision. If you have suggestions regarding how to improve either of the cover designs, please let me know.

I praise the Lord Jesus Christ for his many undeserved mercies. May this book bring honor and praise to him.

Hey Mike, my choice is the second one, the Wailing Wall. More conservative. Robert’s painting is overused. I would leave out “the retaining wall that supported the temple platform.” I am biased since I don’t believe it. I believe that is associated with Fort Antonia, not the Temple. I think I sent you some YouTubes on the Temple Mount which show the so-called “temple mount” is not the location of the temple but rather Antonia’s Fort.

Blessings,

jon

Mike, please see Face Book page.

I would like to nominate ‘B’ as your cover page – ‘AD 70’.

Congratulations on the book. I don’t do FB so my choice is A for the cover. Please let me know I can pick up several copies once it is ready as there are a few people I want to give them to. Thanks.
