Posts contributing to the development of the biblically framed Inmillenialism Prophetic Model for the interpretation of prophecy.
This blog post is shorter than usual because I will request additional reading. Gary DeMar provoked me to make this appeal. One of his recent blog posts reminded me of a traumatic period in my life. I felt like the Israelites during their Exodus from Egypt, trapped between two powerful…
We reject Ralph Waldo Emerson’s dictum that “consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.” He claimed Moses and other great thinkers “set at naught books and traditions” by speaking “what they thought.” Emerson said they gave no heed to consistency. This is a falsehood. Moses spoke what God revealed to him.…
On Tuesday of Passion Week, the Sadducees challenged Jesus regarding his doctrine of the resurrection (Matt 22:23–33). Their belief “that there is no resurrection” (Matt 22:23) is well known. Jesus’s response to the Sadducees is of vital importance to our prophetic model. Inmillennialism is a preteristic view of prophecy. “Preterism”…
Matthew 22 continues showing what Jesus did on the Tuesday of Passion Week. Here, the Lord again teaches about the kingdom of heaven. He uses a story about a wedding feast to do so. Here is his parable: And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said, The…
A previous post (here) showed Jesus’s first-last parable (Matt 20:1–15) was about kingdom transfer. The exchange happened at the end of the Mosaic age and the beginning of the messianic age. In Matthew 21, Jesus reinforced that message in five ways—by three symbolic actions (Matt 21:1–22) and two parables (Matt…
The timing of this week’s post on Matthew 21 is fitting. This passage describes events that occurred on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday in the week of Jesus’s crucifixion. The anniversary of this (Palm) Sunday will occur on April 14, 2019. So, this post is about events that happened almost exactly 1,989…
In Matthew 20:1–15, Jesus told about a group of workers. Some worked all day, others only one hour. Yet their employer paid them the same. The Lord placed this story inside bookend statements. Before the parable, he said, “many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be…
One of our readers said, “As I read through your blog … I was struck to ask you one single question—so what?” We began our response in our last post (here). Our prophetic model—inmillennialism—makes a difference in five categories: Vision, Apologetics, Legacy, Understanding, and Experience. That post addressed the…
A few days ago a reader sent me an interesting message. He said, “As I read through your blog … I was struck to ask you one single question—so what? So what if what you say about Jesus in Matt 24 is real, what does it mean for us?” Other…
Matthew’s gospel emphasizes the kingdom of heaven. “The central emphasis of the book is found in what is designated (uniquely in the Gospels) as … ‘the gospel of the kingdom’ (Matt 4:23; 9:35; 24:14; cf. 26:13).” To understand the gospel, we must understand the kingdom. In Matthew 19, Jesus uses four…
